Compliant from Mundra to NY/LA.
The United States is one of the largest destinations for Indian agricultural exports — spices, cashews, dehydrated foods, and basmati rice lead the trade. India–USA bilateral agricultural trade exceeded USD 6 billion in 2024, with growth driven by USA's large South Asian diaspora, premium spice retail, and food-manufacturer demand for cumin, turmeric, cardamom, and chili.
Aethon Overseas is an APEDA-registered, FSSAI-licensed Indian agricultural exporter shipping to USA importers from our Ankleshwar, Gujarat facility via Mundra and JNPT to New York, Savannah, Long Beach, and Houston. Every shipment ships with FDA Prior Notice (PN) submitted, NABL COA on the FDA-relevant residue panel, and (on request) USDA Organic certification.

What USA Buyers Need to Know
How USA importers source Indian agricultural products — compliance, logistics, certifications, and the practical realities at NY, LA, and Savannah ports.
1. FDA Prior Notice (PN)
Every food shipment to USA requires FDA Prior Notice submitted before vessel arrival — typically 5 days before for sea freight. We submit PN as part of our standard documentation; your customs broker confirms receipt.
Common mistake: PN submitted with wrong product code or HS code. Aethon's documentation team uses USA-specific FDA codes per shipment.
2. USDA Organic Certification
USA accepts USDA NOP organic certification (Aethon partners with NOP-accredited certifying agencies in India). Organic claims on retail packaging require USDA Organic seal at destination.
If you're not selling under "organic" labeling at retail, you don't need this — saves 4–6 weeks on first-order lead time and avoids the certification premium.
3. FSVP Compliance
Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) is the importer's responsibility under FSMA — but the foreign supplier facilitates by providing supplier records. We provide FSVP-compliant supplier documentation as part of every shipment.
Common mistake: importers assume the supplier handles FSVP. It's the importer's regulatory responsibility — but you need cooperative supplier documentation.
4. Pesticide MRL Panel (US EPA)
USA has its own pesticide tolerance limits via EPA — different from EU MRLs. Our NABL COA tests against the US EPA panel for shipments destined to USA.
Common mistake: assuming an EU MRL panel covers USA — it usually does, but specific pesticides differ. We confirm panel match per destination at the inquiry stage.
5. Coast Selection & Routing
East Coast (NY, Savannah, Norfolk): 26–30 days from Mundra, lower freight cost, larger Indian-diaspora retail concentration. West Coast (LA, Long Beach): 30–35 days via Pacific routing, better for West-Coast distributors.
Houston / Gulf (28–32 days) is the rising third option — especially for Texas and Mexico-onward distribution.
6. Bonded Warehouse / FTZ
USA has Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs) at most major ports. Storing in an FTZ defers import duty until merchandise leaves the FTZ. Useful for buyers with long inventory cycles or planning re-export.
Aethon documentation accommodates FTZ entry where buyers request — Bill of Lading and Commercial Invoice formatted for FTZ admission.
