PRIVATE LABEL SPICE PACKAGING · INDIA

Your brand, our compliance.

Private label spice service combines two operations: custom blending (formulating to your recipe — masala blends, spice mixes, seasonings) and retail-ready packaging (pouches, jars, tins, paperboard with your brand artwork). Aethon Overseas runs both as a single service for retail brands, e-commerce DTC operators, and foodservice supply.

Typical project: a UK / USA / Australian retail brand sends us a target masala recipe and packaging brief. We blend to spec at our APEDA / FSSAI facility, package in your branded pouches / jars / tins, run NABL lab COA on the lot, and ship FOB Mundra or CIF to your destination port. End-to-end: 4-8 weeks first run, 4-6 weeks repeat. Halal, Kosher, USDA Organic, EU Organic certifications available on request.

Private Label from India

What retail brands and DTC operators should understand before commissioning private-label spice packaging from an Indian supplier.

1. Custom Blending Accuracy

Recipe matching to ±0.5% accuracy on each ingredient by mass. We follow your spec sheet (e.g., garam masala 25% coriander, 18% cumin, 15% black pepper, 12% cardamom, etc.) and run trial blends for sample sign-off before bulk production.

Buyer tip: send a 100g reference sample of the target blend along with the spec — "taste-match" rather than just numerical-match catches subtle issues.

2. Packaging Format Choice

Pouches (cheapest, lightest, fastest) for e-commerce / mass retail. Jars (premium feel, glass or PET) for specialty retail. Tins (heritage / premium) for gifting and high-end shelf positioning. Paperboard for sustainable / eco-positioned brands.

Buyer tip: pouches deliver best per-unit cost but tins / jars deliver best shelf premium. Match format to retail price point.

3. Artwork & Plates

Each SKU artwork requires a separate printing plate — adds setup cost (typically USD 200-500 per plate) and 1-2 weeks lead time for plate creation. Once plates are made, repeat orders skip this step.

Buyer tip: design artwork for the entire SKU range upfront. Adding new SKUs later means new plates each time. We can suggest cost-efficient layouts.

4. Labeling Compliance

Each destination has labeling requirements: USA FDA (allergen, nutrition facts panel), EU FIC (Food Information to Consumers Reg 1169/2011), Canada CFIA, Australia FSANZ, UAE ESMA. We assist with destination-specific label content review (not legal advice — your brand counsel signs off).

Buyer tip: provide destination market(s) at the brief stage. Labels designed for one market may need re-work for another.

5. Certifications on Retail Packs

Halal certification (Halal Council of India or destination), USDA Organic, EU Organic, Kosher (OU/Star-K), BRC, SMETA — printed on retail packs at customer choice. Each adds 4-6 weeks first-cycle and 5-25% pricing premium.

Buyer tip: confirm certifications at brief stage before plates are cut — adding certifications later may require re-design.

6. End-to-End Documentation

Beyond the retail packaging, every shipment includes the full export pack: NABL COA, Phytosanitary Certificate, Certificate of Origin, FSSAI license extract, APEDA RCMC, plus any destination-specific certifications.

Buyer tip: as a private-label retail brand, you may need fewer of these for downstream retail — but customs at destination requires the full pack.
