Mahuva & Bhavnagar belt, compliant for global retail.
India is a leading global supplier of dehydrated vegetables — onion flakes, garlic powder, tomato flakes, dehydrated potato, dehydrated carrot — with the bulk of production concentrated in Gujarat (Mahuva, Bhavnagar) and Maharashtra. Indian dehydrated onion alone supplies 30%+ of the world's dehydrated onion demand.
Aethon Overseas supplies the full dehydrated-vegetable range with full FSSAI licensing, NABL-accredited COA per lot, and explicit ETO-free / steam-sterilized processing for EU and increasingly USA-bound shipments. Every consignment ships with EU MRL panel testing for pesticide residues, microbial counts (E. coli, salmonella, total plate count), and product-specific markers. Bulk export bags or retail packs.

Dehydrated Vegetable Sourcing From India
What food manufacturers and importers should understand about Indian dehydrated vegetable wholesale — formats, processing, MOQ, certifications, and trade realities.
1. ETO-Free Processing
Some Indian dehydrated processors use ethylene oxide (ETO) to reduce microbial counts. EU has banned ETO residues since 2020 and EU rapid alerts in 2021-22 caught several Indian dehydrated-onion shipments. Aethon supplies steam-sterilized only — never ETO-treated for EU shipments.
Buyer tip: explicitly request "ETO-free / steam-sterilized" in your spec sheet for EU and increasingly USA. We confirm in writing per consignment.
2. Moisture Standard
Onion flakes ≤8% moisture, onion powder ≤6%, garlic flakes ≤6%, garlic powder ≤5%, tomato/potato/carrot ≤8%. Higher moisture = shorter shelf life and microbial risk. Aethon's NABL COA reports moisture per lot.
Buyer tip: specify maximum moisture in your spec. "Industry-standard" moisture varies; below 6% on powder is the safe spec for tropical / humid storage.
3. Microbial Counts
Total plate count (TPC), E. coli, Salmonella, yeast/mold all matter. EU dehydrated-vegetable spec typically: TPC < 50,000/g, E. coli absent in 1g, Salmonella absent in 25g. Steam-sterilization brings counts down without ETO.
Buyer tip: specify destination microbial spec. EU is stricter than India domestic standards. We test pre-shipment at NABL labs.
4. Pesticide MRL
Dehydrated vegetables face the same EU / USA pesticide MRL scrutiny as fresh produce. Chlorpyrifos, glyphosate, ethylene oxide are the main concerns. Pre-shipment NABL COA on destination MRL panel is essential.
Buyer tip: "EU MRL panel tested" should be on your spec sheet for EU-bound shipments. We test by default for EU.
5. Packaging & Shelf Life
Bulk export: 25 kg multi-layer kraft bags with PE inner liner. Retail packs: 50g-1kg sachets with desiccant. Shelf life: 18-24 months at <25°C with sealed packaging; 6-12 months once opened. Vacuum-packed extends to 24-30 months.
Buyer tip: confirm packaging integrity at receiving — multi-layer bag damage during transit can cause moisture absorption and shelf-life reduction.
6. India vs Egypt vs China
India dominates onion (30%+ world supply), garlic, tomato, potato dehydrated. China dominates carrot, mushroom, certain leafy. Egypt is strong on onion. India offers price-quality sweet spot for most categories with strong food-safety infrastructure.
Buyer tip: source-of-origin on dehydrated retail labels matters for some markets. Indian-origin is well-positioned for South Asian / GCC retail; Egyptian for EU.
